The Spain Study Trip is an immersive learning experience that requires students to actively engage with historical, cultural, and intellectual themes. To ensure a meaningful and enriching experience, participants must meet the following academic requirements:

Complete all assigned readings before departure. Readings will be provided in both Arabic and English, allowing students to engage with primary and secondary sources.
Attend the mandatory pre-trip orientation session, where key learning objectives and logistical details will be covered.
Attend the first class session, which will introduce the academic framework for the trip.
2. Active Engagement During the Trip
Attend all classes and discussions, actively participating in group learning.
Complete assigned readings during the trip, engaging with texts that complement site visits and lectures.
Take detailed notes during lectures.
Engage in thoughtful discussions by drawing connections between readings, site visits, and historical contexts.
3. Journaling & Reflection
Maintain a daily journal to document reflections, insights, and key takeaways from classes and site visits.
Use the journal to engage critically with the material and synthesize personal learning experiences.
By meeting these academic expectations, students will gain a deeper understanding of the historical and intellectual significance of Islamic Spain while developing critical thinking and analytical skills.
